The Henderson 30 is a one-design class created to promote level racing in Henderson 30 Class Yachts. These rules intended to preserve similarity and to insure equal performance of all Henderson 30 yachts.

Except where specifically permitted, each yacht in the Henderson 30 Class shall be alike in hull, deck, spars, rudder, keel, weight and sail plan.

Any considered alteration must be approved by the Class Measurer.

All items not specifically permitted by these rules are prohibited.

The Class Association has the authority to amend, change or add to the rules to preserve the intention of 1.1

No yacht shall be deemed legal to sail in a Class Race unless the owner and/or designated helms person are members of the Henderson Class Association.

Each yacht in measurement condition shall include hull, deck, keel, rudder assembly, tiller and extension, mast, boom, bow-pole, standing rigging, halyards, main and jib sheets, runner and backstay assemblies, mounted compass, CRO unit, outboard engine, five (5) inches of fuel, but no more than six and one half (6 1/2) inches of fuel, battery, boom vang assembly, dry bilges and factory mounted hardware and gear. It is not necessary to carry the floor boards while racing, nor is it necessary for them to be in the boat to satisfy measurement conditions.

In the measurement condition the minimum weight of the yacht shall not be less than 1807 kilos.

The adding of corrector weights to meet Class minimum weight shall be located at the base of the molded mast pedestal.

A yacht shall only be measured by a person recognized by the Henderson Class Association.

Battery location shall not be changed.

Hull, deck, keel and rudder shall not be altered. Only minor repair and sanding may be effected without permission from the Class Association.

Keel and rudder in plan form shall be within 3mm of Class templates

Fore and aft keel and rudder locations shall not be changed from their factory installed positions.


The keel shall not be shimmed in an effort to raise or lower the keel from its factory installed location.

The carbon fiber mast approved for one-design racing shall conform with the measurements of the original mast supplied by the manufacture.

The top spreader length shall not be less than 60.0 cm, and the lower spreader length shall not be less than 81.8 cm.

Standing rigging may not be reduced in diameter and must be multi-strand wire consisting of a headstay, (2) upper shrouds, (2) intermediate shrouds and (2) lower shrouds.

Backstay, runners and check stays can be of any material. Backstay and runners are mandatory for one-design racing. Check stays are optional.

Primary deck hardware positioned by the builder shall not be changed in location. Primary hardware includes: stem plate, chain plates, jib and genoa track locations, winches, main traveler, bow pole assembly and VARA System.

The bow pole fully extended and positioned down centerline shall not measure more than 189.0 cm.

The inclusion of corrector weights, sails, gear, and equipment as included for and during measurement shall remain on the boat during any Class sanctioned regatta.

There shall not be more than one mainsail, three headsails and two spinnakers measured and on board during any Class sanctioned event.

Sail shall be measured by a Class official.

There are no limitations or restrictions on the use of materials in the construction of Class Legal sails.

The upper luff band shall not measure more than 1177 cm above the boom.

The top of the lower band shall not be higher than 198.0 cm above the fiberglass mast base pedestal.

The boom band shall not measure more than 437 cm. aft of the back face of the mast.

The upper batten shall not be closer to the head of the sail as described in the IMS sail measurement of mainsails. (pending review)

The MGU shall not measure more than 205.7 cm.

The MGM shall not measure more than 323.7 cm.

The headboard, including the luff rope, shall not measure more than 21.7 cm.

The mainsail shall not have more tna five battens which will equally divide the leech.

The mainsail shall have Class Insignia and sail numbers.

the luffs of the Class genoa and Class jib shall not measure more than 1155 cm.

The LP of the Class genoa shall not measure more than 521.2 cm.

The LP of the Class jibs shall not measure more than 327.7 cm.

The Class jib shall not have more than four battens which will equally divide the leech.

Headboards and clew boards in any headsail is strictly prohibited.

Convex leeches are prohibited.

Headsails with LP larger than 135% shall have sail numbers.

The Class spinnakers are asymmetric about their centerlines.

Spinnaker cloth shall be of a woven material

The maximum spinnaker SL shall not be longer than 1493.5 cm.

The maximum spinnaker leech shall not be longer than 1280 cm.

The maximum spinnaker foot shall not be longer than 974 cm.

The maximum spinnaker SMW measured from mid-leech to luff shall not be greater than 974 cm.


8. On board required equipment while racing

The "V" deck hatch shall be installed while racing

Hiking equipment or aids other than factory supplied double life lines. The lower life lines shall not deflect lower than 100 mm above the deck when firm pressure is applied to the life line halfway between any two stanchions.

Quick throw devices for running or standing rigging.

Replacement of factory equipment not approved by Class specifications (list pending)

The bow pole shall not be extended on the windward leg in preparation for the setting of the spinnaker until the yacht bow cross the projected line between the leeward and windward mark.

The bow pole must be retracted at the first available opportunity after rounding the leeward mark.


10. Crew Weight Limit

10.1 For One Design racing the total crew weight is not to exceed 1500 lbs.
